This animated legal exhibit was used in a birth injury case to demonstrate how fetal maternal circulation feeds and supports a developing infant. Watch more of our animated legal exhibits involving birth trauma:
The uterine artery supplies blood to the mother’s uterus, which transfers oxygen and nutrients to the placenta, where it travels through the umbilical cord and feeds the developing infant. Waste product is then returned to the placenta. Oxygen and waste travel to and from the baby via the umbilical cord, which serves as the lifeline for the developing infant.
